What makes a good choice
A useful north star metric has a few traits.
- It reflects value to the customer, not just activity
- It connects clearly to revenue
- It moves within weeks, not years
- The whole team can understand it
Support it with a few drivers
Pair the main metric with three or four drivers you can influence directly, such as qualified leads, conversion rate and average order value. Review drivers weekly and the north star monthly.
