Every yes has a cost

A three part reply

Keep the reply short and specific.

  • Acknowledge the request and why it matters to the person
  • Show what it would replace this week
  • Offer a smaller version or a later date

Keep a parked list

Parked requests go on a visible list that you review weekly. People accept a no more easily when they can see their idea is recorded and will be reconsidered.
